20 years ago, my husband and I moved to Cedar Park because we wanted to raise our children in a community where neighbors knew each other and truly cared about one another. We wanted a community that offered our family the opportunities to explore nature, participate in community events, have access to great libraries and public spaces. Cedar Park gave us this while also giving us a sense of belonging. Now more than ever, it is an exciting time to be a Williamson County Resident! So many exciting things are happening in our community in terms of growth, economic development, and diversity. All of these changes bring more opportunities to build our community to be the open and inclusive community that first drew us to Cedar Park.
My name is Sara Groff and I am running to be your next Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2. I am an organizer, community leader, and lifelong Texas Democrat dedicated to empowering every person to participate in our community and working together to make Williamson County a great place for each of us to live in.
I believe transparency and inclusiveness are the backbones of a successful elected official’s office. There is a unique opportunity through the Justice of the Peace position to change lives and ensure justice is accessible to everyone, regardless of race, income, or zip code.
I believe leadership starts with listening and would love any opportunity to speak with you further about your goals and concerns for our justice courts. Feel free to call me anytime at 512-922-4594. Together, we can build the Williamson County we all deserve.
Random beginnings of thoughts
Sara is a long-time Democratic activist. She got her start in politics working on Judicial campaigns in Nueces County. Not old enough to block walk she focused her efforts on being the best sign holder at the library. Despite having 2 small children, Sara found time to volunteer on Obama’s 2008 campaign, both phone banking and block walking. She has block walked all over Cedar Park for candidates up and down the ballot and loves connecting with the voters in Pct. 2. In 2020, Sara was elected to represent Senate District 5 on the State Democratic Executive Committee where she helped to lay the foundation for the newly formed Platform Review Committee.
For the last 20 months Sara has run a food delivery program ensuring our neighbors in Pct. 2 have access to fresh food and meat. Sara manages a team of volunteers and coordinates all logistics involved. Many of the volunteers have been with Sara since March 2020, the beginning of the program. Sara loves this type of volunteer work because of the personal connections that are created.
Sara is a proud graduate of the University of Texas, where she received her B.A. in Health and Society and a minor in Government. Sara lives in Cedar Park, with her husband, Ian, and their son Eli. Their daughter, Eleanor attends the University of Wisconsin. Go Badgers! The family loves to spend time outdoors at many of the parks around, floating the Frio River, or hanging out with their rescue dogs, Winky a one-eyed shih tzu and Lady Bird, the sweetest poodle ever to come out of Williamson County Animal Shelter.
We can do this most effectively by honoring our past, working in the present, and planning for our future.
My professional and volunteer experience speaks to my ability to build community. I’ve organized on a multitude of campaigns, served as the Volunteer Coordinator for 2018 coordinated campaign in Williamson County, and am currently working as the District Director for a State Representative, putting a premium on communication, problem-solving, and inclusion. I also serve as chair of the Planning and Zoning Committee for my city, which provides vital experience in working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
